ErgoPad® system:s

The modular foot orthosis

Around 65 to 75 percent of the adult population suffer from foot deformities and complaints. With ErgoPad system:s an orthopedic orthosis can be assembled that is perfectly fitted to the indication. This is because the soft foam foot orthosis offers a special base layer for all common foot misalignments, and this can be combined with top layer variants in different materials, thicknesses and shapes. Depending upon the severity of the indication, the orthopedic orthoses stabilize the longitudinal arch, correct the position of the ankle complex and reduce forefoot pain.

  • Variable construction depending upon indication
  • The configurator makes the selection of the base and top layers easy
  • Suitable for normal and comfort shoes

Indication-dependent use

The most common foot misalignments include the various degrees of (valgus) splayfoot and hollow foot. They form the basis for the construction of the ErgoPad system:s. Depending upon indication, the orthotist can choose between five short-sole and five long-sole base layers. The top layer variants (cushion layers and covers) are divided into Basic, Standard and Pro so that these can be selected on the basis of the patient's requirements. The patient thus gets an orthopedic orthosis that is precisely matched to his symptoms.

Designs and uses/indications

ErgoPad system:s are modular orthoses oriented towards the five most common foot deformities. They can be worn in normal and comfort shoes with removable inlays of at least 5 mm in thickness.

Only available from medical retailers

The ErgoPad system:s orthoses are only available from a medical retailer/orthotist. He will take all the necessary measurements of the foot and establish the status of the foot by physical examination, imprint foam/blueprint or digital measurement technology. Following this measurement process, he will then produce a custom-made foot orthosis, taking the relevant footwear into account.

Cleaning instructions

  • Top covers and foot orthosis surfaces should, if necessary, be wiped with a mild detergent/disinfectant (except for leather covers).
  • Not machine-washable
  • Do not expose to direct heat (heater, direct sunlight)
  • Allow to air dry

Modification instructions – specific information for medical retailers

Glued foot orthosis variants:

  • Lateral machining usually only in the forefoot area, in order to fit the foot orthosis to the shoe shape
  • When the glued foot orthosis variants are heated, uneven heating of the top layer and
  • Base layer materials, shrinkage and detachment of glued connections must be anticipated.

Non-glued base layers:

  • Modification and subsequent glueing with top layer
  • Lateral machining in midfoot and hindfoot area
  • Lateral machining in the forefoot area, in order to fit the foot orthosis to the shoe shape
  • Glueing becomes necessary where non-glued model variants are to be modified by orthopedic structures. For this, the bottom coating and the construction materials must be roughened (grit 24 - 100), and glued and pressed using conventional adhesives (e.g. Renia topfit, etc.) according to the glue manufacturer's instructions.
  • Thermal deformation, e.g. using individual patient lasts, is possible at approx. 80˚C – 100˚C for approx. 30 seconds. Caution: Shrinkage of the EVA base layer is possible.

Main indications

  • Mild splayfoot
  • Mild flat foot
  • Pronounced (valgus) splayfoot
  • Pronounced (valgus) splayfoot with heel pain
  • Mild/moderate hollow foot

Concomitant indications

  • Achilles tendon complaints
  • Knee/back pain

Mode of action

Depending upon the severity of the foot deformity, the thermal reinforcement in the base layers stabilizes the longitudinal arch and provides comfortable support. In addition, the slight to more pronounced heel cup and the instep support correct the position of the ankle complex. The anatomically shaped transverse arch pad counteracts increased forefoot pain.

  • When selecting your foot orthosis, think about when and for what purpose you want to use it. The type of foot orthosis depends on the footwear being worn. The shoe and the foot orthosis must fit together!
