How can we help you?

Support in cases of back pain

Support in cases of heavy legs

Support for your feet
Your belly is growing, hormones are flowing, and from now on, your whole life will revolve around your baby. Your body is changing and it has to work a lot harder to feed your baby as well. This is often associated with back problems or heavy legs, which may cloud your anticipation of the birth and the time afterwards. At Bauerfeind, we want to support you, so we have developed products that can improve your well-being during pregnancy.

Please ask your physician whether also using Bauerfeind products can alleviate possible problems. In addition, ask a medical retailer near you for advice on our orthopedic aids and medical compression stockings.
Support for your back
During pregnancy, your weight will increase. This changes your posture to compensate for the additional weight – which can result in back pain. Hormonal changes also play a role. The production of relaxin, a hormone that loosens the joints, for example, can influence the stability of the spine as well as the pelvic and hip region. Furthermore, emotional stress can increase muscle tension. In addition to moderate exercise, orthoses can help relieve your back, counteract a hollow back, and alleviate pain.

Support in cases of heavy legs
From the beginning of the pregnancy until about six to twelve weeks after giving birth, your legs require special attention. During this time, hormonal changes loosen the connective tissue, which puts the veins at an increased risk. In addition, significantly more blood is produced in your body to feed the baby growing inside you. This frequently results in problems with congestion. Regular exercise and medical compression stockings will keep your veins in shape and assist blood flow from your legs, without influencing the mother's hormone balance or the baby. This prevents water retention and reduces swelling. Furthermore, compression therapy during the early stages of pregnancy lowers symptoms such as nausea and vomiting.*

Support for your feet
The increased body weight and ligaments as well as joints loosened because of hormones also have an effect on the feet. The foot arches will drop and foot misalignments may develop. This means pain caused by pressure and a changed gait are often concomitant symptoms of pregnancy. Orthopedic foot orthoses provide the foot arches with support and can distribute pressure evenly, which will reduce problems and alleviate pain. This will make you more mobile and will help you enjoy being active.
