Following the construction of an Energy Center and the expansion of Central Logistics, Bauerfeind is consistently driving the development of its main site in Zeulenroda: The company is investing another 50 million euros, approximately, in new production and storage halls as well as a functional building. Plans are for construction to begin in early June, and to be completed in spring 2028.

This includes a state-of-the-art complex consisting of a production hall, integrating the Innovation Center, as well as a directly linked raw materials warehouse. An architecturally striking stand-alone building rounds off the design. It includes a staff restaurant as well as multi-functional spaces for meetings, training sessions, and conferences, and will therefore become an attractive venue – diagonally opposite the widely visible Bauerfeind Tower as the site’s key point of focus.

Developing into an attractive campus

In addition to the buildings, the surroundings will also be redesigned. A central promenade, spacious green areas, and a park connect the existing and new buildings to form a modern campus. What is known as “Triebeswall” will be a special highlight. This is a man-made mound in harmony with nature which will serve as a space for the employees to spend time and be active.

Continuing positive business performance

Bauerfeind’s medical products are sought after all over the world. The new investments are the company’s response to the demand for its supports, orthoses, orthopedic foot orthoses, and compression products that has been increasing for years. In order to keep up with this growth and to safeguard competitiveness in the long term, Bauerfeind is purposefully expanding its capacities: Construction of the new Energy Center started in September 2025 in Zeulenroda. It will supply the site with sufficient energy in the future. At the same time, the central warehouse has been expanded and modernized in two phases since November 2025.

Overall, Bauerfeind AG is investing around 100 million Euros in the future of the company’s central headquarters by spring 2028.

“It’s a long-term commitment to our core business, to Germany, to Zeulenroda, and in particular to the people here,” explains Rainer Berthan, Bauerfeind AG’s Chief Executive Officer. He emphasizes: “You won’t find all this dynamic progress elsewhere that we’re experiencing here at Bauerfeind at the moment. This extraordinary development, these huge investments, the trust, as well as the courage being expressed are not exactly commonplace right now. We’re in a remarkable situation that we’re going to handle responsibly.”

On the one hand, the investments safeguard existing employment at Bauerfeind. At the same time, the company is expecting additional personnel requirements based on demographic changes and continuing growth – at all three of its production sites in Zeulenroda, Gera, and Remscheid.
