When grasping movements begin to hurt, those affected quickly need functional support during everyday activities and treatment. Lightweight, comfortable, and wipeable – the new RhizoLoc OA encourages constant wearing and provides the base of the thumb with relief during activities involving the inferior pincer grasp and the pincer grasp by immobilizing the carpometacarpal joint and metacarpophalangeal joint of the thumb.
The RhizoLoc OA secures the thumb and index finger in a defined position and immobilizes the carpometacarpal joint and
metacarpophalangeal joint of the thumb. Grasping movements are guided and strain is reduced. In addition to chronic symptoms caused by osteoarthritis, this orthosis can also be used in cases of arthritis or following injuries and surgery to support functional treatment measures to achieve pain alleviation and mobilization and to promote maintaining participation and the ability to work.
A handy design
The RhizoLoc OA’s narrow plastic brace, which features a reinforced midsection, is lightweight, perforated for air-permeability, and lies comfortably against the hand, thanks to its rounded edges. A technician can individually adjust the orthosis to the size of the palm and the wrist circumference using two straps with holes. Patients can then put on their orthosis with one hand like a wrist watch, and secure the strap via a clip. A hand symbol on the inside provides orientation when positioning the brace.
The thumb strap can be clicked in and unclicked and provides additional support. It is securely tightened below the mobile interphalangeal joint. The strap’s soft Velcro velour is self-engaging and thus ensures that it protects clothing and surfaces. Convenient when washing hands, washing up, and handling drinks: the RhizoLoc OA can be wiped and does not need to be removed when in contact with liquids. We recommend you briefly unclick the textile thumb strap for this. Alternatively, a dry spare strap is supplied so you can switch them.
The new RhizoLoc OA is now available. It can be ordered from your local Bauerfeind sales representative or by e-mailing International Customer Service at export@bauerfeind.com.
