Milled sports orthoses

New power in your shoe

Professional line milled sports orthoses have been developed for active sportsmen and women. Especially in demanding sports like golf, inline skating, mountain biking, downhill skiing and football, orthopedic foot orthoses have a positive effect on posture, reduce sport-specific strains and the moment of force - and distribute body weight for maximum effect. You can feel how the locomotor and musculoskeletal system is being protected.

  • Stresses are applied to and removed from specific areas of the foot thanks to a special sports orthosis, shaped using the latest CAD milling technology
  • Sport-specific foot orthoses, for orthopedic effect
  • Available in the following designs: for golf, inline skating, mountain biking, downhill skiing and football

Tailor-made for specific sports

Sport is healthy and keeps us fit - but it exerts great strain on our feet and joints. For example, mountain bikers often complain of numb feet after a downhill race. For inline skaters and downhill skiers, the feet are under purely static strain - they cannot flex naturally. Using templates showing the patterns of strain for specific sports, the special multi-layered construction of the insole is milled - this means that the foot is guided into specific positions, supported and cushioned and so the whole body is protected.

Designs and uses

These orthopedic foot orthoses are specifically designed for certain sports: golf, inline skating, mountain biking, downhill skiing and football The various forces and specific stresses that occur and are exerted on the foot and so also on the rest of the body are all taken into account when the 4 or 5 layers of the insole are milled, using CAD. The professional line milled sports orthoses interact with the particular sports footwear and can be inserted in any footwear with a removable sole at least 3-5 mm thick.

Only available from medical retailers

Professional line milled sports orthoses are blank templates. They are therefore only available from a medical retailer – an orthotist. The orthotist will take all the necessary measurements of the foot and diagnose the status of the foot using digital measurement technology, imprint foam/ink imprint or physical examination. Following this measurement process, the orthotist will then process the template to produce a custom-made foot orthosis, taking the relevant footwear into account. With foot orthoses like this, the sports footwear and the orthosis become a tailor-made whole.

Properties

  • Multi-layered soft foam foot orthosis
  • 3- or 4-layer blank template constructed using the latest CAD technology and finished off using CNC milling to match the relevant sport-specific stress template

Material zones

  • Load-bearing layer: This tough elasticated layer reduces pressure from studs under the foot and distributes it evenly.
  • Cushioning layer: This thin layer cushions the forefoot and ensures redistribution of pressure.
  • Supporting layer for the crossways arch of the foot: This layer supports the entire crossways arch of the foot. This reduces the enormous stress on the forefoot caused during a swing.
  • Grips the hindfoot: This area provides support for the hindfoot and positions the heels securely. This protects you from twisting your ankle.
  • Protective layer for the lengthways arch of the foot: This layer protects the lengthways arch of the foot. This extends the time before the muscles become tired.
  • Heel recess: The cup-shaped design of the heel guides the hindfoot and actively encourages a natural gait pattern.

Designs

Professional line milled sports orthosis

  • professional Golf (right-handed teeing off)
  • professional Football
  • professional Mountain Biking
  • professional Inline Skating
  • professional Downhill Skiing

Uses

  • Suitable for the following sports: golf, football, mountain biking, downhill skiing and inline skating

Serviceable life

  • Fundamentally depends on the load
  • We recommend that the functional properties should be checked after a maximum of 6 months

Cleaning instructions

  • Wipe the surfaces using a mild cleanser and a sponge (except leather top covers)
  • Not machine-washable
  • Do not expose to direct heat (central heating, direct sunlight)

Modification instructions - Specially for medical retailers

  • Must be ground (shape of the sides of the orthosis, its thickness and to modify the arch supports) – easy to grind (grinding belt and pumice stone, grain 60-80, polishing brush on the blade disk)
  • Easily bonded (standard workshop adhesives)
  • Partial thermoplastic molding possible (hot air blower, up to 120°C, 20-30 sec.) – avoid attempting large-scale thermoplastic molding.
  • A top cover, e.g. microfiber, is recommended for the mechanical protection of the soft foam material

Indications

Main indications

  • Flat foot/splayfoot
  • Pes valgus

Concomitant indications

  • Hollow foot, mild and moderate severity 1
  • Post-traumatic foot deformities 1
  • Talagia (heel pain) 1, 2
  • Achilles tendon complaints 1
  • Knee joint/back pain 1

1 Depending on the severity of the foot, knee or back deformity
2 Depending on the structural design of the foot orthosis or the type of foot orthosis

Effectiveness

  • Supports fallen arches and guides the foot, reduces strain on the joints and corrects misalignment of the locomotor system
  • Frequently also alleviates knee and back pain
